#Repost @ssdparty • • • • • • Durham, North Carolina Due to recent events, we will not be going forth with the June edition of SSDP as planned. . The senseless killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, & Ahmaud Arbery have deeply hurt us, our community, & have further shed light on an ongoing problem in our country that simply cannot be ignored any longer. . Although we know music heals and can be a welcome distraction, promoting a party right now just doesn’t feel right. . DJing is an art form created by Black Americans, and most of the music we play is either created directly by, or heavily influenced by Black Artists. . We literally owe our careers, and the existence of this party to Black America. We also recognize that the struggles of Black America have lessened the burden for our own respective ethnic groups and daily lives in America. . So, instead of partying this Friday, we will take the time to reflect, participate, and most of all listen to those that need someone to talk to. . We will also be donating what we would normally make at SSDP directly to Durham Beyond Policing and The Freedom Fighter Bond Fund. . We stand beside all of our Black friends, DJs, hosts/MCs, party-goers, bartenders, event planners, and promoters — now and always. . . Thank you, and we’ll see you next time. . @djrang and @djforge #durhamight #🐂💪🏽
